2021 Christmas Street Stocking

Team, Uncategorized

Dear Friends and Colleagues:

WE ARE BACK! We are only a few months away from the Annual Christmas Stocking Event! Due to the unforeseen Pandemic, we lamentably missed last year.  As we continue to adapt to this new reality, the future has never felt so unpredictable. These are challenging times for us all, and we hope you are in good spirits and health! Right now, we are doing everything possible to sustain daily operations and provide services to the SD homeless community this upcoming holiday season. Now, more than ever, the homeless community needs us. And we need your help!

DISCOVERING THE MISSION: When 17 and in college, I would clean out my apartment before going home for the holidays, and that is when it suddenly occurred to me, all the hotel soaps, shampoos, and mini lotion bottles I collected as “freebies” would be a perfect give away to the homeless or those in need.  I would also buy some inexpensive Christmas fabric, sew up some stockings and stuff them with all my “freebies.”  I made approximately five stockings the first year and hand delivered them on Christmas Eve.  Since then, I “stuff” as many stockings as I can with contributions and help from family, friends, businesses, and colleagues.

If you are able, please drop off any donations or “freebies” such as:  masks, socks, caps/beanies, toothbrushes/ toothpaste, shampoo/conditioner, hairbrush/comb, Chapstick, hand lotion, hand sanitizer, soap, first aid kits, paperback books, magazines, deck of cards, feminine hygiene products, non-perishable goods, water, etc. to JWB Family Law Firm located at 1620 Fifth Avenue, Suite 600, San Diego, CA 92101, or you may coordinate with our office (619-234-6123 or reception@jwbfamilylaw.com) so that we may pick them up from you.

If you are unable to donate at this time, there are many other ways you can support us! You can advocate for us by sharing our mission with family members, friends, or colleagues. Even a quick mention on your social media would mean the world to us. In times like these, we are reminded of how interconnected we all are. Thank you for being part of our community, because without you none of it is possible!

Stay safe and well,

Jane Wesley Brooks, CFLS

Attorney at Law

The Importance of the CFLS Designation

A Certified Family Law Specialist, or CFLS, is an attorney who has obtained certification in the standards of California family law and demonstrated optimal legal competence. Attorneys who obtain this certification have specific expertise in all aspects of family law, which includes divorce or the dissolution of marriagechild and spousal support, child custody, and temporary restraining orders, among other areas of emphasis.

Not every attorney practicing family law has obtained this certification. In fact, the designation remains relatively rare—there are fewer than 2,000 CFLS attorneys in California and fewer than 200 in San Diego.
