Catherine Tancredi is an Associate Attorney at JWB Family Law with extensive experience in family law and a longstanding commitment to service in the San Diego community.
Before joining JWB, Catherine maintained her own law practice in El Cajon, California, where she focused exclusively on family law matters. Her practice included dissolution of marriage, child custody and visitation, child and spousal support, domestic violence restraining orders, guardianships, stepparent adoptions, and Qualified Domestic Relations Orders (QDROs). From 1998 through 2013, she was a Certified Family Law Specialist, a designation conferred by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization in recognition of demonstrated expertise in the field.
Catherine has also contributed her time and expertise to the court and local community. She has volunteered as a Settlement Conference Judge and Small Claims Judge at the El Cajon Superior Court as well as the Family Law Access Project, Domestic Violence Clinic, and handled cases through the San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program. For 15 years, she was also the Editor of the Foothills Bar Association newsletter, now known as the East San Diego County Bar Association.
Her professional and volunteer efforts have earned her multiple awards from the State Bar of California, the San Diego Superior Court, and the San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program, recognizing both her community service and her work as a speaker at continuing legal education seminars.
Beyond her legal practice, Catherine is actively involved in environmental advocacy. She has incorporated local organizations, served on boards of directors, and co-founded the East County Land-Use Watchdogs. Through this work, she advocates on environmental and land-use issues affecting San Diego’s East County communities, with particular attention to Lakeside and the El Monte Valley.
Catherine earned her Juris Doctor from Western State University College of Law while working full time in the legal field. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Administration from San Diego State University, where she graduated with honors in her major, and an Associate of Science in Administration of Justice from Grossmont College.
A San Diego native, Catherine attended Patrick Henry High School. She is married and the proud mother of two sons and four stepsons. Outside of her professional life, she is an avid Mustang enthusiast—owning both a 1965 hardtop and a 2019 convertible—collects vintage and boxed Barbies, enjoys crocheting and sewing, and is a fan of classic rock.
